Sheikh Mouhamadou Lamine Bara Mbacké was born in Touba on the 28th of Jumada 1309 AH, corresponding to December 29, 1891. Serigne Mouhamadou Lamine Bara Mbacké, father of the late Caliph Sheikh Sidy Moctar and namesake of the late Caliph Serigne Bara Fallilou Mbacké, is the only one among the descendants of Serigne Touba to have been born in Touba, which had just been founded by the Sheikh. The son of Sokhna Aminata Lô, Serigne Mouhamadou Bara is the full brother of the first Caliph of Serigne Touba, Serigne Mouhamadou Moustapha Mbacké. Orphaned six months after his birth, he was entrusted to Sokhna Awa Bousso, mother of Serigne Fallou Mbacké. Serigne Bara Mbacké received his early education from Serigne Ndame Abdourahmane Lô before continuing his religious studies with Mame Thierno Ibra Faty.
It is reported that the beginning of his studies was quite difficult due to his hearing impairment. This did not prevent him from completing his education. All those close to him attest to his gentleness, generosity, fine qualities, and devotion to God. Sheikh Mouhamadou Bara Mbacké was deeply committed to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He dedicated his life to the education of young people, and he also called upon all parents to provide religious education for their daughters.
After a full life, Serigne Mouhamadou Bara Mbacké passed away in 1936 at the age of 45 in Mbacké, Cayor.
His mausoleum is located within the Touba cemeteries.
